NMEA Conference, July 14 – 17, 2021

NMEA is excited to host a virtual conference this summer from July 14-17, 2021. The theme this year will be “Your Connection to Water,” focusing on our personal connection to water, as well as the virtual connection to which we have all become so familiar.

Our conference theme is “Your Connection to Water,” focusing on our personal connection to water, as well as the virtual connection we have all become so familiar. Please consider submitting your presentation that can support the conference theme and/or the mission of NMEA.

Presentations will be virtual, using Zoom videoconferencing and the Whova App. NMEA will set up your presentation Zoom link. Session lengths are set at 30 or 12 minutes long, and a poster session option may be available. Please ensure that presentations submitted for consideration are modified for the virtual learning environment.Conference Dates: July 14-17, 2021

Taking Action for the Ocean – March 25, 6:30 PM

As we head into Earth Month, join Blue Ocean Society for Marine Conservation in learning about issues facing the Gulf of Maine, and how you can help!  This program features an overview of environmental issues, but also focuses on easy ways you can make a difference right now.  We’ll also be joined by owners of 3 refill stores, who will talk about their favorite swaps to make your life more eco-friendly!

Program hosted by Blue Ocean Society for Marine Conservation and sponsored by NH Coastal Program, Gulf of Maine Marine Education Association, Aquafisk, Great Island Inn, We Fill Good, The Refill Station and Leave No Trace Refillery.

Recycle Regatta 2021 – entries due March 31

The Recycle Regatta is a fun, hands-on competition that students can participate in from the safety of their own home! Students will build small-scale, unmanned, model sailboats, test them, and calculate their speed. Challenge other students from around the world as you do your part for the environment by repurposing and recycling.

UNH Research Symposium

Join us virtually for our 2021 Research Symposium! This biennial symposium is designed to showcase recently-funded NH Sea Grant research projects and provide a forum to discuss best practices in translating cross-disciplinary science to action through integrated research, education, and engagement. Symposium participants will also learn how successful NH Sea Grant research projects strive to address the core tenants of Sea Grant’s work to be responsive, relevant, integrated, and engaged.

Interested in exploring these issues in your classroom? Check out our new Teach About Microplastics workshop! The workshop targets both formal and informal educators. It is best for those teaching grades 4-9, although it can be adapted for younger and older grades.

Whales in the Gulf of Maine

Looking for something fun to do this winter? Learn about Gulf of Maine marine life and issues from the comfort of your own home. Join us for our evening program series! The programs will be held virtually via Zoom.

Learn about whales in the Gulf of Maine through stunning images, fun facts and information from our research. The virtual program will be presented by our co-founder and Director of Research, Dianna Schulte. A Zoom link will be sent 1-2 days prior to the program. Advance registration required.
