    UNH Ocean Discovery Day

    Ocean Discovery Day

Photo of international students in desert

Touch a horseshoe crab, drive a remotely operated vehicle, and map the ocean floor at the University of New Hampshire’s Ocean Discovery Day! Ocean Discovery Day provides visitors with an opportunity to explore the wonders of the ocean through interactive exhibits and demonstrations. Visitors can make a fish print, band a lobster, taste a seaweed smoothie and see the plankton that form the base of the food chain in N.H.’s Great Bay. Watch a SCUBA diving demonstration to learn how UNH scientists conduct research below the waves, and learn more about marine snow and tern restoration at the Isles of Shoals.

    Public Open House

    Saturday, October 14, 2017
    10:00AM - 3:00PM

Members of the general public are welcomed to join us at the Chase Ocean Engineering Laboratory on the UNH Durham campus and enjoy family-friendly, hands-on demonstrations, tours and talks.

    Student Day (Grades 3 - 12)

    Friday, October 13, 2017
    8:30 AM - 2:00 PM

Although the general public is welcomed, this day is specifically designed for educators and organizations to bring students to talk to scientists, operate an ROV in the deep water tank, learn about ocean mapping, ocean acoustics and check out the 3D visualization lab. Students will get their hands wet while exploring our ecosystems and touching live sea creatures.
