The deadline to submit proposals has passed. We are leaving the below information online for prospective presenters' guidance.
The theme of Downeast 2007 is Ideas, Innovations, and Inspirations in Marine Research, Education, and Stewardship. The conference focus will therefore be on cutting edge research or methods, and new or creative ways to motivate or educate the public on marine science. We encourage presentations which support the conference theme from a variety of disciplines: classroom teachers, researchers, artists, curriculum leaders, and others who may not have attended or presented at NMEA conferences before now.
Accordingly, we ask that you consider carefully how the proposed presentation addresses the theme, and particularly, what value the presentation will add to attendees’ experience at the conference. The committee may recommend changes to your proposal should it judge that your proposal has merit, but requires alteration to meet the goals of the conference.
Some guidelines and suggestions for proposal preparation:
-
Proposals are no longer being accepted. Presenters who have applied but need to modify their proposal, please contact Mark Wiley at (603) 749-1565 as soon as possible.
-
Proposals will be accepted as proposed, rejected, or returned for refinement by April 15, 2007.
-
Proposals that clearly intend to showcase existing programs or facilities, and do not address the themes of the conference, may be referred for inclusion in the poster session.
-
Downeast 2007 supports the Ocean Literacy Network's goals and the science content standards of each state, and will be judging proposals based on the extent to which the proposal supports those efforts. (Read more about Ocean Literacy.)

If you have unusual AV or other uncommon presentation needs, please include those in the proposal. Our conference venue is well equipped with projectors, screens, and whiteboards, and advance notice of any additional, unusual needs is appreciated.
